The 2026/27 club year is under way, and you can still join. Shirley says new members are welcome at any time, and Te Kura says players can join any time of year.
What an adult membership costs
It's a wide spread. Burwood Park charges $290 for an adult aged 25 and over, and $237 if you're 18 to 25. Shirley is also $290 for a senior, $220 for new members, and $205 for tertiary students. Redcliffs is $260 for an adult, which includes the option of a court access key.
Te Kura Hagley Park is the dearer one at $435 for a senior, or $305 if you're under 25 or a full-time student.
Burnside Park has a first-year senior membership for anyone new to the club at $239, then $312 for a full senior after that. Bishopdale charges $290 for a first-time member or a student, and $330 for a senior who isn't playing interclub. Both clubs' join pages show these prices, and subscriptions at Bishopdale are paid by bank transfer.
Cheaper ways in
Daytime. Shirley's mid-week membership is $195 and covers the Tuesday morning and Wednesday twilight sessions, but not mid-week interclub. Te Kura has a mid-week off-peak membership at $310, for Monday to Friday, 9am to 3pm.
Already in another club. Redcliffs has a multi-club adult membership at $200 for people who belong to another affiliated club.
Paying monthly. Burwood has monthly plans on regular memberships, by credit card. Redcliffs lets you pay its adult membership over six months at $45 a month, which comes to $270 against $260 up front.
How joining works
Mostly it's an online form and a payment.
At Te Kura it's two steps: fill in the registration form, then pay. You're not a member until both are done, and there are no summer-only memberships. Burwood has a request-a-membership link. Redcliffs has a sign-up link on its membership page. Shirley still uses an application form that asks, among other things, which clubs you've belonged to and what grade of competition you've played.
Interclub costs extra almost everywhere. Burwood invoices an interclub team fee, Redcliffs adds $25, Waimairi lists $50, and Te Kura's interclub membership is $500 including a $60 interclub fee.
Member or visitor
You can play without joining at a lot of clubs. Te Kura visitors pay $10 a session, and Shirley has a $15 one-off visitor rate.
Shirley's trial membership is the one worth knowing. It's $45 for three free sessions plus up to three more, and $30 comes off the full fee if you decide to join. Burwood lets non-members try up to three social sessions free.
Burnside's "Senior Casual Membership" is for private court use only and doesn't include the club's organised sessions, so check which one you're buying.
Why this matters
A membership gets you courts and a regular session to turn up to. You still need someone to hit with on the other days, at your level, when you're both free.
That's the gap we're building Hitter for.
